The club was founded in 1942.
The first game of Krylya Sovetov for the Cup of the USSR took place on July, 30, 1944. In 1/16 of the cup-final Krylya Sovetov lost to Lokomotiv (Moscow) 1:5.
Their first game in the Championship of the USSR (second group) took place on June, 4, 1945 on Kuibyshev stadium Lokomotiv with Torpedo from Gorky. The game ended in a draw 1:1.
On April, 21, 1946 in Alma-Ata there was the team’s first match in the higher division of the USSR, which they lost to Zenit (Leningrad) (1:2).
Krylya Sovetov participated in 48 championships of the USSR and 14 Russian Championships. Participants of 43 cup-ties of the Cup of the USSR and of 14 Russian Cups.
During the second round of the season of 1953 the team bore the name of Zenit.
On July, 6, 2002 Krylya Sovetov first played with a European team in the second round of the Intertoto Cup of UEFA. They won this game with Dinaburg (Daugavpils, Latvia) played on Metallurg Stadium with the score of 3:0. The first one to score a goal was Andrey Karyaka. Robertas Poshkus and Rogerio Gausho made the score a proud 3:0.
